Covid-19 Facility Guidelines

We do not believe that anyone attending CrossFit Ickenham is at high risk from the COVID-19 virus, but we do feel CrossFit Ickenham should do everything in its power to limit the spread of the virus and support the NHS.

Your coach will always maintain social distancing. They will communicate all instructions verbally, then by demonstrating movements themselves. Additionally, a white board may be used to convey information. The coach will predominately stay at the front of the session. They may move around the outside of the marked floor area; however, they will not move into your marked off area unless for a medical emergency, and then, only after first taking any necessary personal protection.

Before and following your session, please observe current social distancing guidelines and do not congregate together with fellow attendees waiting in the staging area or other areas in the car park or just outside.

Please read the guidelines below very carefully and make sure you understand every instruction. If not, please ask for further clarification or additional information.

Prior to visiting CrossFit Ickenham

First and foremost: IF YOU ARE ILL OR HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS DO NOT ARRANGE TO VISIT THE FACILITY.

If you are planning to visit the facility to view the gym or meet to discuss a membership, please call in advance and arrange a time that is convenient. This ensures the capacity of the facility is within limits. If after arranging a date and time you develop any symptoms or are known to have been in contact with someone either diagnosed or showing signs of Covid-19 then contact us to cancel your appointment and rearrange for after the appropriate isolation time or a negative Covid-19 test result.

We do not provide face masks and they are not required by law when attending the facility, however if you do wish to wear one you must provide your own.

Please arrive at the facility at the correct time. Due to the control of numbers within the facility you may be asked to wait outside regardless of the weather.

Arriving at the facility

We operate a one-way system of entering and exiting the building. Please arrive and, whether on foot or by car, approach the rear door via the rear of the car park. Please wait to be invited in by a member of staff before entering.

If you have not booked a Taster Session or a Member’s training session or course you will be asked to confirm and sign a Covid-19 visit checklist before entering.

External sessions at the facility

When the session is ready to begin you will be called forward to the sanitising and check-in station. Your 'Covid-19 Pre-class Par-Q' will be checked, if all ok you will be asked to sanitise your hands, you will then be directed to your training area.

Once in your training area, place any personal belongings to the rear of the marked area. All items of equipment have been cleaned prior to your arrival, however, if you wish to personally clean equipment you are welcome. Any additional cleaning you complete will form part of your session time.

Dependent upon legislation the use of the changing/shower facilities may or may not be allowed. The toilet will be able to be used. It is important that all surfaces touched are wiped down with the provided cleaning materials. If the toilet is in use, please wait in your training area until the toilet becomes available.

Once your session starts you are to stay within the allocated training area unless instructed to leave it for emergency reasons.

Internal sessions at the facility

When entering the facility, you will be asked to sanitise your hands by using the wall mounted hands-free dispenser. You do not need to dry your hands after. Next to the sanitiser dispenser you will find the NHS TEST AND TRACE QR poster. There is at present no legal requirement for you to use the NHS TEST AND TRACE app, however we do advise you do.

If you have an appointment to discuss the services we provide, you will be taken to a designated area either inside or outside the facility. You always keep all personal belongings with you.

If attending a Taster Session or are booked onto a Member’s training session or course wait until instructed to place all your personal belongings into one of the lockers provided before being directed to your designated area to complete your session.

During your session you must remain within the designated area, unless directed by the coach leading the session. If leaving the designated area you must follow instructions and keep to all recommended social distancing guidelines.

During the session the toilet facilities are available for use. Wait until there is no queue and the toilet is free for use. Wash hands before and after use and dry using the hands-free hand dryer. When returning to your designated area you must follow the instructions of the coach leading the session and keep to all recommended social distancing guidelines.

If you encounter any form of emergency while training and require assistance you must notify the coach leading the session. They will then, with appropriate personal protective precautions, enter your designated area to assist.

You must always follow general guidelines when attending a session:

  • Keep your recommended distance of 2m from other attendees and members of staff.

  • All equipment used to train must be cleaned before returning them to where they came from.

Leaving the facility

At the end of your appointment or training session and all equipment used has been clean and replaced as instructed by the coach leading the session, wait to be directed to pick up any personal belongings before leaving the facility, sanitising your hands by using the wall mounted hands-free dispenser on the way out.

Operational Statistics

Current government guidelines are calculated by the square foot of the facility regarding to capacity. At present each attendee of the facility must have an allocated 100 square foot and whilst maintaining social distancing guidelines.

Internal gym floor training area: 1756 squat foot
Maximum number of allowed occupants: 17

We have a maximum session size of eight, a maximum appointment size of two and maximum number two staff members on their training areas of the facility at any given time. This gives us a total of 12 individuals in an area with a capacity of 17. This means we are operating at 70% of the capacity that the government guidelines entitle us to do so. We feel this action is a very safe and responsible solution.

All signage is government issued and conforms to directives.

All sanitising and cleaning protocols in place are more than the directives and fully documented.

All medical and health questionnaires and Covid-19 pre-screening questionnaires are in place and fully documented.

All attendance records in place are in excess of the directives and fully documented.

Moral Responsibility Actions

As in all areas of our activity as a company we are in a position of responsibility, towards our suppliers, towards each other as members of staff, towards our clients and acting as a control between our clients. If at any time you feel a situation requires anyone to be asked to modify their behaviour or asked to leave the facility do not hesitate to ask a member of staff for support. They will decide upon any action needed to be taken. Their decision will be final.

All the above measures are important to minimise risk and create an environment that will allow us to provide you all with the services you all deserve.

To that end, please respect what must be done and all staff who have a responsibility to action it, together with your fellow community members by sticking to the guidelines.

These guidelines will be reviewed and updated regularly based upon guidelines of government directive and any relevant legislation that may result. At times we may add additional levels of operational guidelines to ensure the safest environment possible for staff and members. Please do not question these. They will not be issued lightly and are in your interest.

If there are any question or concerns regarding the above procedures being put in place, please contact us either directly or by email to info@crossfitickenham.com.
