Schools Programme

CrossFit Ickenham has designed a bespoke solution to provide schools with a National Curriculum Enrichment Programme to compliment the Physical Education curriculum. Not only does it support physical and mental health but it’s also a chance for students to develop their independence and team building skills within a wider community.

Each programme is aimed at Key Stage 3 and 4 students, providing fun, engaging sessions that will ignite and deepen a passion for fitness throughout adult life.

Our programme is designed by teachers. We know how to structure content that not only fulfils the National Curriculum Enrichment Programme but also enables every student to get the most out of every minute of the course.

The students will get introduced to CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting, and Strongman, as sporting disciplines to develop an interest in health and fitness in adult life post school.

Techniques and skills are fundamental. Students learn a range of movements from gymnastics to Olympic weightlifting. Understanding how to move safely and efficiently to achieve a long-term healthy life. In addition, social skills develop to form a strong sense of personal interaction and community. Whether working individually or as part of a team, they are actively encouraged to support one another to achieve, and succeed.

Key Markers
Students will improve in confidence with fitness within a programme that is structured and coached in a way to ensure that every individual feels success, giving a sense of self confidence that is nurtured and developed.

Throughout the programme each student is encouraged to discuss their own movement, looking at how to evaluate and improve to become more efficient, ultimate improve performance, skill and levels of fitness.

A natural component of adult life is competition, the programme incorporates competition where everyone can put their learning to the test, as an individual, or as part of a team, to gain success.

All this is alongside gaining a deeper understanding of fitness and nutrition that develops quality of life – both physical and mental.

Curriculum & Content
No two sessions are the same, each broken down into two 40 minute periods. In each students work in groups which cycle through sessions dedicated to skills relating to CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting and Strongman, learning and developing technique in movements such as: squats, lunges, pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, the clean and jerk and snatch and atlas stones and tyre flips. Safety is paramount, use of a range of equipment such as: barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, sandbags, atlas stones and sandbags is explored and reenforced.

Certifications & Qualifications
The Safeguarding and Protection of individuals is important for adults as well as minors. We follow and implement government and local authority directives in all areas.

Our Schools Programme is managed and coached by individuals holding the Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

 
 

*The pricing of all of the above service is reviewed yearly in January and any increase is implemented in February. These increases are usually in line with the current rate of inflation unless there are any other market influences to be taken into account.
